Astan Quds Razavi's Assistant for endowments and legal affairs: Over 80 Endowment Documents by Ladies

Astan Quds Razavi's assistant for endowments and legal affairs said, "Ladies have ever dedicated over eighty endowment documents including 65 properties to Astan Quds Razavi".


Announcing this news, Hujjat al-Islam wa al-Muslimin Daneshvar Thani said, "As the world biggest endowment organization, Astan Quds Razavi has got, except lady Goharshad, some other benevolent ladies who has endowed their properties to this holy organization. The oldest endowment document belongs to Lady Bick Aqa, Ismail Beig's daughter, which was endowed in 997 A.H. / 1588 A.D."
He stressed, "In this endowment document, Lady Bick has endowed the entire place of Qazvin's Soleiman Abad to Astan Quds Razavi". He also said, "The income of this property is spent on carpet and light needs of the shrine and also for the benefit of Razavi pilgrims and Shi’ite seminary students".
Daneshvar Thani added, "The organization's biggest endowment by women is that of Lady Kheir al-Nesa in 1255 A.H. / 1839 A.D. This benevolent lady has dedicated some valuable properties of her in Kerman and Shahr-e Babak".
He also introduced endowment of Lady Rabe'e, known as Ehteram al-Saltane Ghahramani, as another big endowment of Astan Quds Razavi and stated, "This one is related to the construction and management of Montaseriyeh Hospital whose custodianship has given to the management of Astan Quds Razavi ".
Elsewhere in his remarks, Astan Quds Razavi's assistant for endowments and legal affairs referred to the endowment made by Fakhri Fasihi and said, "This benevolent lady has endowed seven different properties to Astan Quds Razavi".
"According to the remained documents from Safavid to the end of Qajar dynasty, sixteen ladies have dedicated some parts of their properties to the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (A.S.) in order to be used in feeding pilgrims, shrine lightening, equipping the Dar al-Shifa, helping pilgrims, holding birth and martyrdom ceremonies of the household of the Apostle of the God (S.A.W.)", he added.
He stated, "During Pahlavi period, incomes of the ladies’ endowments were used to treat patients, build hospitals, support orphanages, feed pilgrims on Imam Reza's (A.S.) birth anniversary, and hold eulogy ceremonies. The incomes were sometimes spent in an absolute way".
Daneshvar Thani said that number of ladies benefactors and the way of spending incomes of their endowments have greatly enlarged since 1357/1979. He also stressed, "Constructing schools, providing pilgrims with cost of their travel, financial support of the poor, and holding birth anniversaries of Imam Reza (A.S.) are some usages".
Financing marriage of the poor couples, feeding the needy people on the night of Imam Reza's (A.S.) birth day, supplying the treatment and medicine of the poor patients, financing cultural affairs and those related to the libraries, supporting indigent students, constructing libraries, lending loans to the Astan Quds Razavi staff, propagating Islamic teachings, forming Qur'anic centers, etc. were introduced as other activities financed, since 1357/1979, by the incomes of these endowments.
