A piece of Prophet Mohammed(PBUH)'s hair displayed at Imam Hussein(AS) museum

The museum of the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine displayed a piece of hair –believed to belong to the Prophet Mohammed (God's Blessings Be Upon Him and His Pure Family) - on the anniversary of the blessed birth of Imam Hussein (Peace Be Upon Him).

This piece of hair is displayed on the third and fourth of Sha’ban month of every Islamic calendar year.

Saeed Zumaizem, historian, said the piece of hair had been kept in the mosque of the Prophet in Hejaz where the belongings of the Prophet Mohammed and Ahlul-Bayet (God’s Blessings Be Upon Them) had been.

After the Ottoman invasion of Hejaz, the piece of hair and other belongings had been taken to Istanbul where they had remained until the Ottoman state collapsed; the piece of hair was then presented to the ruler of Baghdad Dawood Basha in 1309, ever since, it remained in the safe of the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine until the museum was established where it is now displayed every single year, added Zumaizem.
