In cooperation with KHS, A seminar on “the influence of Islamic architecture on the city of Baghdad held in Iraq.”

In cooperation with KHS, the Department of Geography of Ibn Rushd College of Education for human sciences held on Thursday, 6th April, 2017, a seminar on “the influence of Islamic architecture on the city of Baghdad”.


The Islamic architectural heritage is considered a record of innovation, a sign of the nation’s creativity, and a constituent that delineates its identity.

It is a landmark that evidenced the contribution of the Islamic civilization to other civilizations.

In cooperation with KHS, the Department of Geography of Ibn Rushd College of Education for human sciences held on Thursday, 6th April, 2017, a seminar on “the influence of Islamic architecture on the city of Baghdad”.

The seminar was attended by the KHS Secretary General, Prof. Dr. Jamal Al-Dabbagh, a number of the Board’s members and some other professors and academics.

The seminar was started with reciting some verses of the Holy Quran and followed by a speech delivered by the Dr. Al-Dabbagh in which he underlined the KHS’s interest in sponsoring conferences and seminars. He also referred to the International Scientific Conference to be held next August. He also confirmed that such seminars should not be classic and confined to mere attendance and its respective researches should find their way to application. Prof. Dr. Iyad Al-Taei also delivered a speech on the occasion and thanked KHS Secretariat General for sponsoring seminars and conferences and their concern for the Islamic heritage. After that, the scientific session started and many papers were introduced. Asst. Prof. Dr. Dhurgham Khalid presented a paper entitled: “Development of Architecture in the Mausoleum of Salman Al-Mohammedi and Other Annexed Mausoleums”, while Asst. Dr. Malik Nasir presented a paper entitled: “Safe Environment Management in the Arab Islamic Heritage”, and then, many other papers followed.

The seminar was concluded with questions and comments and awarding the researchers with certificates of merit.
