Speaking at his jurisprudence course at Qom’s Grand Mosque, Grand Ayatollah Hoseyn Nouri-Hamadani thanked the Iranian people for their massive participation in the mourning ceremonies commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Husayn during the month of Muharram and said, “Fortunately this year, people’s participation in Muharram ceremonies and Ashura processions were magnificent and it goes to prove the impact of the message of Ashura.”
Elsewhere in his remarks the Shi’ah source of emulation highlighted the significance of Ashura and its impact in the world and added, “We must pay more attention and respect to this great doctrine, since Shi’ah doctrine is standing against the infidels and our enemies are seeking to undermine it through the internet.”
He then referred to the current conditions in Iraq and stated, “Today, the Iraqi military along with the Popular Mobilization Forces are fighting to liberate Mosul, there are some Christian soldiers among these forces who believe they’re the children of Abu Wahhab al-Kalbi and John, the companions of Imam Husayn on the day of Ashura. These Christians are fighting alongside Muslims to liberate Mosul.”
“This is due to the great impact of Ashura movement that such people as Christians are respecting Ahlul-Bayt and are standing against the infidels and Takfiris,” Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani concluded.
