Supreme Quran Council Established in Iraq

A supreme Quran council has been founded in Iraq to promote Quranic activities in the Arab country.

The establishment of the council was announced in a meeting of officials of Iraq’s Dar-ol-Quran centers held at the holy shrine of Imam Ali (AS) in Najaf, the website of the holy shrine’s Astan (custodianship) reported.

According to Hassan al-Mansouri, director of the Dar-ol-Quran center of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine, the move is aimed at enhancing the level of Quranic activities in Iraq and promoting coordination among Quranic centers in the country.

Ala Mohsin Kadhim, an official with the Dar-ol-Quran center of Imam Ali (AS) holy shrine said the council will serve to integrate the Quranic programs of the Quranic institutes and centers affiliated to Shia holy shrines and prevent duplications in their activities.

Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.
