In his Friday prayer sermon delivered to a large and fervent crowd of believers in Qom’s Qods Prayer Hall, Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammad Saidi said that there is a permanent confrontation between the front of truth and the front of falsehood and added, “The tragedy of Ashura is an example of this contrast.”
The custodian of the Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah added that in the current era, the Iranian Islamic Revolution stands on the front on truth against the front of falsehood, which consists of the unbelievers, imperialist powers and Takfiris and these two fronts fight against each other.
He said that on the day of Ashura, there were two mutually opposing groups standing against each other and the soldiers of Yazid wanted to kill the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad [al-Husayn] but the companions of the Imam were not intimidated by the large numbers of enemy forces and stood alongside Imam al-Husayn until the end.
Ayatollah Saidi referred said that elements in some Western countries, including the United Kingdom, support and promote the ritual of self-flagellation in their own specific context to destroy the image of Islam but in contrast to this, the loving ceremony of Husayni Infants has been held throughout Iran and more than forty countries of the world and conveys the message of the oppressionagainst Imam al-Husayn and condemns the practice of self- flagellation.
His Eminence said that the Zionist regime has responded to the ceremony of Husayni Infants and said: “This bloodthirsty regime says that Iran is in the process of recruiting soldiers. In Haaretz, one of the Israeli newspapers, it has been written that this ceremony is as dangerous as a bomb. They must realize that one day that their humiliating and criminal scroll of life will be rolled up by thesesame little soldiers.”
Referring to the 15 Khordad uprising of 1963, Ayatollah Saidi said that the late Imam Khomeini led the Islamic Revolution in Iran to victory by relying on the culture of Ashura and Imam al-Husayn and said that by foiling the seditious movements, such as the sedition of 2009, the strength of the adherents of Ashura and the movement of Ashura was demonstrated throughout the world.
