Ayatollah Raeisi, in the special program of “Permission of Mourning” on the last day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah, which was held to mark the start of the month of Muharram in the courtyard of the Islamic Revolution, pointing out that every thought and movement which recognizes the incident of Karbala as a random event is doomed to failure said, “At the verge of Muharram, and hoisting the flag of mourning of Imam Hussein bin Ali (A.S.), a world of sadness burdens the heart of everyone.”
“When Imam Hussein (A.S.) moved from Medina told the people, ‘O people, whoever is willing to sacrifice their blood and life for God and reaches the God, may accompany me, the destination and purpose of this path is meeting the God’” he reiterated.
“Imam Hussein (A.S.) up to the evening of Ashura, managed this enormous event himself and after his martyrdom, Imam Zayn al-Abidin (A.S.), by the executive management of Hazrat Zeinab (S.A.) continued this historical and religious trend” Ayatollah Raeisi stated, pointing out that Imam Hussein (A.S.) had planned each and every moment of Ashura.
Ashura, Humanity’s Symbol
Board member of the Assembly of Experts, introduced the incident of Ashura as a sign which includes all the great human and divine themes, and stated, “Compassion, trust in the Creator, the divine satisfaction, self-sacrifice, purity in intention, altruism in the light of monotheism, are of the keywords of this great sign.”
“Imam Hussein (A.S.) on Ashura day, in the hollow of slaughter, with all the bereavement and the wounds he suffered from, still praised the God, and he was pursuing the guidance of the enemies to the right path” Grand Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi uttered, recounting the holy being of Imam Hussein (A.S.) as a role model for humanity.
“Yazidis, after the incident of Ashura, desired to fade it in the history, and that's why they crushed the blessed bodies of the household of the Apostle of God (S.A.W.) under the hooves of horses, and demonstrated their heads in the cities in order for people to disrespect and insult them; however, the will of God made Ashura the beginning of the school of martyrdom and humanity's guidance” he remarked.
The Fortieth, Solidifies the Memory of Ashura
Ayatollah Raeisi, mentioning the activities of Imam Sajjad (A.S.) after the incident of Karbala, the strategy to join the hearts with Ashura, and pointing out that the Husseini Fortieth consolidates the aliveness and the memory of Ashura stated, “Weeping and mourning for Imam Hussein (A.S.), during all the year, especially in the Thursdays’ nights, in which the doors of divine mercy open, indicates that Imam Hussein (A.S.) is the gateway to the divine mercy in all year’s days.”
“The prayer cry of Imam Hussein (A.S.) in the day of Ashura that said, ‘who is the one to support me’ has overcome the history and time, and still this divine voice is there, and anyone who says yes to the message itself, sees themselves helping His Highness on the day of Ashura” he enunciated.
According to Grand Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi, Imam Sajjad (A.S.) after Ashura, to the end of his life wept for the tragedy of Imam Hussein (A.S.), and wherever he saw water or ate food, reminded the tragedy and mourning of Imam Hussein (A.S.).
“Imam Sajjad (A.S.) worshiped on the pillar of prayer, and the best state of thralldom meaning prostration, with the soil of Imam Hussein (A.S.) that this movement of Imam indicate that the best serving state will be formed in connection with the Ashura” Member of the Supreme Council expressed Khorasan Seminary expressed.
“After the Holy being of Imam Sajjad (A.S.), Imam Baqir (A.S.) up to the Imam Mahdi (A.S.), kept the memory of Ashura alive and Imam Reza (A.S.) told Ibn Shabib, ‘Son of Shabib! If you weep for something, cry for Hussein bin Ali’” Ayatollah Raeisi said, commenting that the incident of Karbala was after the prophecy and the mission of the Divine Prophets, but they all were changed after hearing about the name and the tragedy of Imam Hussein (A.S.).
The Philosophy of Keeping Ashura Incident Alive
“Imam Hussein (A.S.), to reform human society, namely the obligatory duty of enjoining the good and forbidding the evil, rose up, and his action does not belong only to the year 61 AH, and it will continue until the judgment day, and certainly the holy blood of Imam Hussein (A.S.) will be the keyword and guidance of human society” he expressed on the keeping the philosophy of Ashura alive, by the Infallible Imams (A.S.) and the scholars.
Grand Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi, recounted wiping ignorance and increasing insight, of the blessings of the uprising of Imam (A.S.) on the day of Ashura, and pointing out that our martyrs following the example of Imam Hussein (A.S.) fought in order to stabilize the divine and Islamic values said, “Religious confraternities are considered the school of clairvoyance lessons, devotion to the household of the Apostle of God (S.A.W.) and the place to enhance knowledge for the community.”
“Now, the world’s hegemony does not want to hear the righteousness seeking and the message of the revolution; however, the Muslim nation with the call of Ashura must fight the modern ironed ignorance” he reiterated.
“Promoting the culture of Ashura, the poets, admirers and preachers can have a significant role, and any action that causes degradation of Islam should be abandoned” he outlined, pointing out that in mourning for the household of the Apostle of God (S.A.W.), enthusiasm, sense, feeling and intellect are combined.
It should be noted that the ceremony that was attended by delegations of mourning of Imam Hussein (A.S) in the courtyard of the Islamic Revolution, the flag of the dome and the cover of the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (A.S.), as a longtime tradition at sunset of the first month of Muharram, got the color of mourning and was replaced. Reading the Special Praise offered to His Holiness Imam Reza (A.S.), lamentations and mourning of Haj Saeed Hadadian, were among other special parts of the special program of the “Permission of Mourning”.
