In a statement to the Media Center, Sayyid Muntathar al-Araji, the head of the office, said “Gilding the dome is one of the big projects that the administration of the secretariat of the Holy Shrine has done. This project is divided into two parts. The first part is done by the investment company that belongs to the Holy Shrine of Imam Abass (PBUH).”
“The second level is completing the high part of the dome. This part is done by Muhjat al-Kawthar for renovating the Holy Shrines in Iraq. 9217 golden parts were re-gilded because the secretariat decided to use the same old golden parts. We know that the dome of the holy shrine is one of the big domes that is distinguished by its unique shape as well as its historic and moral importance,” he added.
“The completion rates reached more than 75%. The number of the rings around the dome is 67 and we have reached the fortieth of them. The four main levels are: removing and cleaning the golden parts level, washing and preparing for gilding, gilding them by using electric vessels by specialists, and last level is placing the parts with precision. Two to three months remained and the project will be opened in one of the religious occasions,” he stated.
The head of the office noted that the quantity of the used gold is 105 kgm. Each part contains 15-20 gm.
