The Association of Muslim Scholars in Lebanon have issued a statement on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
They said that this year, Eid al-Adha has arrived while the Islamic ummah faces a number of crises which have kept the majority of Muslims distant from the monotheistic teachings of Islam and stressed that this stems from extremism, prejudice and sectarianism.
“Thus, the best way to revive this festival is to return to Almighty God in all matters, whether political or personal, in one’s life,” they wrote.
The group of Sunni and Shi’a scholars stressed the need to take the willingness of the Prophet Abraham to sacrifice his son for God as a model and added: “Oh Muslims, based on the monotheistic teachings of the religion of Islam and on the basis of the responsibilities that you have, we call on you to hold firm to authentic Muhammadan Islam which is rich in mercy, moderation and combating extremism and to place peaceful coexistence filled with humanitarian discourse and the avoidance of aggression at the forefront of your activities.”
The Association of Muslim Scholars stressed upon adherence to resistance, saying it is the only option for gain freedom from the oppressors and to cleanse society of the filth of the occupiers, especially rescuing Palestine from the Zionist regime and fighting against Takfiri groups.
They added that we must expose Takfiris as a group which is foreign to Islam in every place and as group which are the servants of the imperialist projects of the United Kingdom in the past and the servants of the United States and the Zionist regime in the present period, are some of the issues that should be given consideration by Muslims.
The Lebanese clerics suggested that Muslims who have been banned from attending the Hajj pilgrimage this year by Saudi Arabia give the amount that they would have spent on Hajj to the Islamic Resistance forces in order to receive the reward of Hajj and also to receive the reward of assisting the Resistance.
In conclusion, the Association of Muslim Scholars said, “I hope next year on Eid al-Adha, the Islamic world will be free of all kinds of oppression and we will witness the destruction of the Zionist regime and we will no longer suffer from the futile wars which benefit this regime.”
