Imam Hussein’s 40th Day Martyrdom

Millions of Iraqi, Arab – foreign visitors, head for Karbala to celebrate Imam Hussein’s 40th Day Martyrdom:


Millions of Iraqi, Arab and foreign visitors, have headed through the Shiite holy city of Najaf towards the other holy city of Karbala, to serve the Shiite visit of the 40th Day of Imam Hussein‘s martyrdom, that took place in the dawn of Islam, Najaf Police Director said on Monday. “More than 10 Millions of Iraqi, Arab and foreign visitors have crossed through Najaf city towards Karbala city, till Sunday evening, to commemorate the 40th Day of Imam Hussein‘s martyrdom, that took place in the dawn of Islam,” Maj-General Abdul-Karim al-Amiri told IraqiNews.com news agency, reiterating that the number of visitors have been doubled, compared with previous years.

“The delicate statistics about the number of visitors that shall be carried out soon, shall be much more than the above figure,” Maj-General Amiri said, adding that the “the current two days shall witness facilitating the mission of the return of the visitors to their home places, through coordination with the Ministry of Transport and other Iraqi ministries.” Noteworthy is that Najaf, 160 kms to the south of Baghdad, had been witnessing the heading of millions of Iraqi, Arab and foreign visitors to visit the Shrine of Imam Ali Bin-Abi Taleb, Prophet Mohammed’s Cousin and Son-in-Law, and Imam Hussein‘s father, all walking on foot passing hundreds and thousands of kilometers, and then to Karbala, 108 kms to the south of Baghdad, where they commemorate the 40th Day of Imam Hussein‘s Matyrdom, at the dawn of Islam.
