It’s Safar month again and vast majority of the household of the Apostle of God (S.A.W.) devotees and lovers has started its trip to the Razavi Holy Shrine in order to respect and salute Imam Reza (A.S.). With respect to their facilities and duties, each organization of the province of Razavi Khorasan is trying to give best services to the on foot pilgrims of the last ten days of Safar month. For this reason, we met Muhammad Hasan Wahedi, director of pilgrims’ welfare affairs in Razavi Khorasan’s General-Governorship, to get informed about the acts provisioned for hosting Imam Reza’s (A.S.) pilgrims.
What are the special services of Razavi Khorasan’s general-governorship in the last days of Safar to welcome on foot pilgrims of the Razavi Shrine?
To welcome pilgrims of the last days of Safar month, headquarter of travel services including 12 managing directors in different organizations has planned its programs in two general types. The first includes treatment services, information, accommodations, and offering cultural and urban services. The second area refers to 11 administrative work groups which have a close field observation on all things related to the Razavi pilgrims”.
What is the difference between this year’s services and those of the last year?
We had 3266000 pilgrims in the last year’s ceremony among them 266000 were on foot pilgrims. All these pilgrims visited Imam Reza’s (A.S.) Shrine in ten days. This year, presence of 5500000 Razavi pilgrims is anticipated out of whom around 300000 will be on foot. For this reason, all the problems and difficulties of the last year have been settled and taken into consideration.
What were pilgrims’ main problems in the last year?
One of the last year’s problems was pilgrims return to their cities. To solve this problem, 4000 buses will provide services to the Razavi pilgrims. In addition to this service, suburban trains to Neyshabur and Sarakhs will also service the pilgrims. To provide the last year’s Razavi pilgrims with better situation, a special roadway was constructed beside the Baqche Highway. This road the length of which is 31kilometers will be used by these pilgrims in this year as well. Also in Asian Highway between Mashhad and Golbahar, twelve kilometers of the road have been widened and can be used by these pilgrims, based on the coordination with the police.
What has been done in other sectinons?
Ten other provinces including North Khorasan, South Khorasan, Semnan, Mazandaran, and Gillan have also provisioned medical teams and ambulances in the roads to Mashhad. In addition to the mentioned services, about 49 permanent bases of road rescue teams exist in the roads of Razavi Khorasan. Also, 108 schools in vicinity of the Razavi Shrine have also prepared to accommodate these pilgrims and some other places belonging to IRGC, Basij, and municipality with 15000 servants have been considered.
Meanwhile, around one thousand residential units in the form of hotels, hostels, apartments, and guest houses are ready to serve other pilgrims of Imam Reza (A.S.). Security group of headquarter of travel services will observe the security issues. During the last ten days of Safar and in different points of the province, three helicopters will keep state of alert to be give services if necessary.
What are your cultural programs?
Special cultural and training packages have been prepared by Astan Quds Razavi and Mashhad Municipality. Organization of Islamic propagations also dispatches preachers and clerics to accompany caravans. Since this trip is a cultural one and all the Razavi pilgrims come to do a cultural activity originating the act of pilgrimage all the organizations must take their greatest effort to use all the facilities for the advantage of culture. We are now witnessing fulfillment of the Supreme Leader’s seven-order charter in Astan Quds Razavi.
During Arbaeen rally, culture of hosting has been established among Iraqi people in a very good way. In your opinion, what should be done to generalize this culture in Mashhad and surrounding towns during last ten days of Safar?
216 by road retinues have been localized and their maps have been specified in all six routes to Mashhad and in all 800 kilometers under the management of Razavi Khorasan. On foot pilgrims walk for about thirty kilometers a day and some of these retinues are now active. With respect to the existence of by road holy shrines and toll-houses, necessary coordination has been done with organization of roads and urban development and organization of endowments and charities. About 400 retinues have been anticipated in the holy city of Mashhad which all will serve Imam Reza’s (A.S.) pilgrims up to the end of Safar month. In the current situation, rendering services to the Razavi pilgrims by the benefactors and owners of the retinues suggests that culture of hosting has been established among the these people as well.
Do you support integrating services of different governmental, non-governmental, popular, and religious groups? Which organization must be at the helm?
The general-governorship manages governmental organizations and the organizing committee of retinues and popular organizations enrolls and organizes those who are ready to help the activity.
What are the best services which can be done by Astan Quds Razavi?
Astan Quds Razavi is the most important element in all affairs related to Imam Reza’s (A.S.) pilgrims and this significant issue is being achieved by the new policies of the organization’s custodian. The general-governorship is also at the service of the Razavi pilgrims to provide them with cultural and welfare services with a focus on Astan Quds Razavi. Fortunately, Astan Quds Razavi’s authorities are doing very well now. As the assistant of the general-governorship, I appreciate Hujjat al-Islam wa al-Muslimin Raeisi, Mr. Bakhtiyari, Astan Quds Razavi’s deputy of custodian, and other officials of the organization for their attention and their endeavor to form an interactional atmosphere to do these jobs. We believe that Astan Qud Razavi must be at the center of all the activities related to Imam Reza’s (A.S.) pilgrims and visitors. This approach is being fulfilled by the new policies of Hujjat al-Islam wa al-Muslimin Raeisi.
