Pointing that extra and different services should be rendered compared with previous years to the on-foot pilgrims of Imam Reza (A.S.), Grand Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi reiterated, “This group of pilgrims are the respected guests of Imam Reza (A.S.) who despite difficulties of the way are displaying their devotion and love to Imam Reza (A.S.).
Member of Supreme Council of Khorasan Seminary had a meeting with Members of Staff of Serving On-foot Pilgrims of Imam Reza (A.S.) where he described the presence of on-foot pilgrims as a valuable opportunity for serving and said, “Authorities in different domains and all citizens should value this opportunity and try to render different and better services compared with previous years through planning, innovation, and resolving the former defects.”
Pointing to the value of pilgrimage of Imam Reza (A.S.) in any way, Ayatollah Sayed Ibrahim Raeisi said, “But those who go on pilgrimage on-foot have a main distinction; with their first step they take, they become a true example of pilgrim that is showing hearty inclination of pilgrim to the visited one and throughout their path, they connect relation with their beloved that can be said frequent pilgrimage occur throughout the trip.”
Grand Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi viewed the on-foot movement of pilgrims a significant manifestation of self-refinement and society construction and added, “Spreading the pilgrimage culture especially in the on-foot form with its avidity in all aspects is one of the most important ways of opposing social damages and immunizing of society.”
Referring to the great Arbaeen walking, he said, “The global show of Husseini Arbaeen walking has no human origin but derived from the love and devotion of people to Imam Hussein (A.S.).”
Referring to the security threats and troubles of the pathway on Arbaeen, Grand Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi reiterated, “Despite all difficulties some devoted people leave their temptations and set for the ideal position.”
People Offer services
Stressing on the necessity of offering service to the pilgrims by people themselves, Grand Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi said, “Social participation in such activities marks our national security such that on Arbaeen as a great Islamic event, the security of Islamic world and union against the malevolent and arrogant is well represented.”
“We should spread the culture of hospitability and occasionally just help the hosts of pilgrims rather than rendering direct services to them”, Grand Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi added.
He asked for public cooperation for rendering favorable services to pilgrims of the last ten days of Safar and said, “We should not focus only on the pathway and ignore the pilgrims present in Mashhad. In those days many will attend in Mashhad by different vehicles or on-foot and will face problems that need to be solved.”
Pointing to the problem of traffic and parking in Mashhad especially in the Holy Shrine nearby streets, Member of Supreme Council of Khorasan Seminary asserted, “On some occasions the streets leading to the Holy Shrine are closed but in case of hindering cars, alternative ways for reaching the Holy Shrine should be devised.”
Referring also to the Sunnis among the on-foot pilgrims of Imam Reza (A.S.), he remarked, “This important event proves that Imam Reza (A.S.) is the secret of coalition of Islamic society.”
At the end, Member of Supreme Council of Khorasan Seminary stressed that Astan Quds Razavi is ready in full strength to present service to on-foot pilgrims of the last ten days of Safar.
Before the speech of Grand Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi, some provincial officials gave a report of service activities to on-foot pilgrims of the last ten days of Safar in last year and expounded their expected programs for the current year.
Vahedi, deputy Pilgrims Affairs of Khorasan Razavi governor general and deputy of Staff of Serving On-foot Pilgrims of Imam Reza (A.S.) in Khorasan also said, “Last year, 3,226,000 pilgrims attended in Mashhad on last ten days of Safar including 268,000 on-foot pilgrims.
According to Vahedi, 149,000 pilgrims were men and the rest were women.
