"The tragedy of Ashura has many a lesson for Muslims. Of those, the most important ones are infighting with oppression, siding with downtrodden nations and standing by their rights," highlighted the Dean of Muhammadiyeh Ashrafdareh Religious seminary.
The Dean of Muhammadiyeh Ashrafdareh Religious seminary, Haj Araz Akhound Muhammadi in an exclusive interview urged Muslims to be in the path of Islam and learn the lessons the tragedy of Ahura has for them stressing, " The tragedy of Ashura has many a lesson for Muslims including Enjoining what is good (al-ma'roof) and forbidding what is evil (al-munkar), infighting with oppression, siding with downtrodden nations and standing by their rights."
Demanding Muslims to repeat and confirm their allegiance to the principles of Imam Hussein, which are the principles of virtue and noble values and sacrifice and truthfulness, the religious cleric underscored, "like the holy book of Quran, Ashura, [and] the Battle of Karbala has special value and place among Muslims at any time."
The Dean of Muhammadiyeh Ashrafdareh Religious seminary went on to underscore the battle of Karbala and the event of Ashura would be registered in people's minds worldwide and never be drifted into oblivion.
"The main mission of religious clerics and task upon Shia and Sunni thinkers is delineating the philosophy of Ashura so as to provide the way for internalizing the true Islamic teachings and standing against the enemies of Islam," underlined Haj Araz Akhound Muhammadi.
The religious scholar warned Muslims of various ways through which enemies of Islam try to tarnish the Islamic values and principles demanding clerics and religious elites to be more vigilant and not to bow out of their duties.
Haj Araz Akhound Muhammadi highlighted the elevated event of Ahsura and the remembrance of the suffering imposed on the religious icon, his family and his companions, by the tyrant of the time Yazid I, an Umayyad as a common point among all Muslims from all religious sects and denominations urging them to have the event as a guide to follow in the face of evil.
The Dean of Muhammadiyeh Ashrafdareh Religious seminary encouraged Muslims from different schools worldwide to foil enemies' plots through keeping and boosting unity as Imam Hussein (PBUUH) did in his time.
With heavy hearts, the faithful have come out in their millions across Iran as well as elsewhere in the world to commemorate the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad and third Shia Imam.
Muslims worldwide hold mourning rituals during the month of Muharram on the lunar calendar in remembrance of the suffering imposed on the religious icon, his family and his companions, by the tyrant of the time Yazid I, an Umayyad caliph, back in the seventh century.
The events peak on the10th day, traditionally known as Ashura, when the Imam and 72 of his companions were martyred at the hands of the despot, to whom they had refused to pledge allegiance.
During the event of Ashura, [and] the Battle of Karbala, 72 was the number of the people on Imam Hussein side and close to 30,000 [the number of people] on the side of the enemy. But these 72 [people] are remembered [today], whereas those 30,000 have been forgotten. Because Imam Hussein stood for the truth and against the tyrant of the day.
